What are brain waves?

Our brain has a large number of nerve cells called neurons, which are responsible for communicating with other parts of the body by these cells and their nerve messages. The nature of these neural messages is as an electric current and as a neurotransmitter between two cells.

This electrical activity of neurons causes the formation of brain waves that have different frequencies with different efficiencies in different states.

Types of brain waves:

Delta Wave: This wave has the lowest frequency range compared to other brain waves. In general, the delta wave is more observed in the state of sleep and unconsciousness. The delta wave is predominant in infants under six months of age and is expected to decrease in range under normal conditions with age.

Theta wave: Theta wave plays an important role in creativity and intuitive and sensory perception, inner focus and memory. In people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, an abnormal increase in the theta wave amplitude leads to slow reaction time and learning disabilities.

Alpha Wave: The alpha wave is seen in conditions of alertness, inner peace, mental readiness, deep thinking and when the eyes are closed.

People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Depression, Special Brain Injuries, and in the case of psychedelics and alcohol, the alpha wave of the forehead is wider, but in people with anxiety disorders and insomnia, the alpha wave increases in the posterior part Has a range.

Beta wave: This wave has a great impact on the process of attention and concentration, memory, thinking, attention retention and problem solving. Increased beta amplitude is seen in anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sleep disorders and gnashing of teeth.

High beta wave: The increase in amplitude of this wave is seen in the states of intense ringing, constant thinking, fast cognitive processing, haste and obsession.

Gamma wave: Gamma wave has the highest frequency compared to other brain waves and increasing its amplitude is necessary for the learning process in relation to complex and multidimensional problems.
